A multi-unit owner has opened a state-of-the-art store in the birthplace of TOGO’s.

TOGO’S was started out of a four-person occupancy shack by a college student in San Jose, California, in 1971. Today, the brand has grown to over 160-units that is well-known and loved in the West for its delicious sandwiches and fresh salad offerings. The company has been able to scale successfully with the help of many multi-unit owners.
Letha Tran is one of those franchisees. She owns three TOGO’S in Northern California currently and has just opened her fourth — a TOGO’S 3.0 “store of the future.”. Her newest location is located next to the PayPal Park MLS soccer stadium at 540 Newhall Dr. in San Jose, just a few miles from Togo’s original location.
Tran first connected with TOGO’S as a franchisee about eight years ago, but she has been a lifelong fan of the brand. She has fond memories of eating there as a kid and even (unsuccessfully) tried to convince her parents to buy her a TOGO’S in college. But she never gave up on her dream and now is an established multi-unit franchisee.
While the vision was always just to “own one,” Tran ultimately signed up for more units. Tran has opened about one store per year since partnering with Togo’s and looks forward to operating her second 3.0 model. One of the reasons she has felt so confident owning multiple locations is the immense support the franchise offers, she said.
“They have reinvested in their brand, so I reinvested in the brand as well. With the 3.0 operating model and store design, they’re making it more efficient with the Speedline and integrated technology,” Tran said. “And the brand is very accessible and helpful with everything from consulting to growing sales to operations. They’re always there for me.”
Tran opened her doors on October 24th and has been overwhelmed with the customer response. “TOGO’S started in San Jose, and both our employees and guests take a lot of pride in the brand. Everyone is to have the store of the future open in the city where it all began.”
The current initial investment for a TOGO’S franchise ranges from $216,500 to $451,500, which includes a $30,000 franchise fee. For more information, visit https://togosfranchise.com/. (2021 FDD)
